Hugo Mérida-Barba
Hugo Mérida-Barba, founder and CEO of MvM Capital GmbH, has more than 25 years experience in financial markets.
Hugo began his professional career in 1994 in HypoVereinsbank (currently Unicredito Group) in Frankfurt, as assistant Sales-Trader in Fixed Income, followed by 18 years in BBVA bank, where he started as Interest Rates Derivatives trader, then moved to Equity Business.
As a member of the Equity team he led significant projects worldwide:
- Head of Equity Risk Arbitrage Trading in Madrid (1999).
- Head of Equity Derivatives Trading business in New York (2001).
- Global Head of Equity Index Volatility Trading team in Madrid (2003).
- Head of Equity Trading Asia in Hong Kong (2010), as his last position in BBVA bank.
Following his resignation from the bank in 2012, he founded MvM Capital GmbH, as he wanted to move from investing into financial assets to investing into Real Economy.
His strength lies in an unparalleled knowledge of the global markets, a solid investment track-record across several geographies and many years of professional practice, as well as a strong access to worldwide deals through his well established network across Asia, Europe and the Americas.
His attraction for the equity investment began at the early age of 16, with the experience of the Black Friday (1987) on his father’s portfolio, and he did his first own investment at the age of 19 (First Gulf War). Since then, he has been an active investor with his own equity (subject to the compliance approval during his time at BBVA), in sectors like Energy, Healthcare, Telecom, Banking, Insurance, BioTech, eMobility, Transportation, Logistic, Pharma and Technology.
He is shareholder and member of the Board of Directors of hAItta (Swiss Artificial Intelligence company) and founder and member of the Executive Board of Power to Motion, a German company aiming to own and operate electroMobility infrastructure in Europe. He is currently member of the Investment Committee of Audentia Capital Management. He was member of the Advisory Board of Round Hill Capital (€3.5Bn) until Dec-17. Previously he was senior advisor of the Italian fund management company Azimut (€+40Bn), Spanish EDM (€2.5Bn), GreenOak and Groove International funds, and Spanish Grupo CIMD (biggest South Europe financial services group).
Hugo holds a MSc. on Finance from ICADE (Spain) and a BA in Economics & Business Administration from Universidad Autonoma of Madrid (Spain) and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (Germany).

Singapore and Beijing based, Ang Gao is founder and Managing Partner at Sino Private Equity Fund. He has more than 25 years of experience in Private Equity, Commodities and Natural Resources investments.
He has served as Executive Director at Nico Steel Holdings Ltd. and as Chief Operating Officer at CITIC Carbon Assets Management Co. Ltd., and has a solid investment and trading experience, including Wall Street and Asian firms, such as JP Morgan Chase & Co, Bay Eagle Ventures Limited, Sino Neoenergy Capital Holding Limited, Astrella Capital Management LLC and ACCE International Management Limited. He has been a member of the Rogers Global Resources Equity Index Committee since 2010.
Ang Gao holds a MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (USA), and a Bachelor Degree on International Relations from the China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing.

Juan Adrio is Partner and Managing Director at DTE Area5 (a Corporate Finance services boutique), and Partner at Grupo ACEGA and Asesoría Bellón Baamonde, S.L. (Advisory and Consultancy firms).
Headquartered in Spain, Juan is also a convinced entrepreneur, with several industrial interests: he is partner at Novoporto, S.L (fishing industries), Industrias del Noroeste, S.A. (plastic industries) and Lola Cool (a start-up within the pet feeding sector).
Lawyer and Business Adviser, he has more than 10 years experience in Business Management advisory, Business Strategy, M&A, Due Diligence processes, and Legal and Financial Advisory to family business and venture capital funds.
He is a frequent speaker at business strategy forums on M&A, venture capital and business consultancy areas. He is also member of the teaching staff at Sports MBA at Vigo University (Spain) and member of the Spanish Society of Capital, Growth and Investment (ASCRI).
Juan holds a Master degree in Wealth Management from the ITE Caixa Galicia & FEF at La Coruña (Spain), a post graduate degree in Corporate Finance from Barcelona University, and is ICFA certified from the Securities & Investment Institute (London). He also has a degree in Law from La Coruña University (Spain).

Former Head of UBS Chile, Miguel López de Silanes is currently Market Leader for Europe & Latin America at Family Office Exchange (FOX) .
He has mainly developed a career in Wealth Management and Investment Banking areas. His professional expertise covers areas such as Family Office, Private Equity, Financial and Business Strategy, M&A, Financial Modelling and Asset Management. He has worked with relevant financial agents such as Bain & Company, Laroche Capital and UBS .
Miguel has a profound knowledge of both LatAm and European markets, due to the experience acquired in relevant positions held in New York, Chile and other locations in Latin America, Madrid and London. He is currently based in Spain and Chile.
Miguel holds a BA in Economics from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid, and a MBA from Harvard Business School .
